Mike’s Amish Aunts Sausage Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage (use a mixture of hot and mild for maximum flavor)

  • 1 stick butter

  • ½ cup flour

  • 6-8 cups of milk

  • Worcestershire

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • Biscuits

  • ¼ tsp poultry seasoning

Instructions

  1. Brown your sausage - keep 2 tsp of sausage grease for your rue. 

  2. Melt butter in skillet with grease

  3. Slowly stir in flour.

  4. Cook until smooth and bubbly.

  5. Add 6 to 8 cups of milk.

  6. Cook until thickened, stirring often.

  7. Add 3-4 dashes of Worcestershire, nutmeg, and poultry seasoning.

  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  9. If you want it spicy, add a few dashes of hot sauce.

  10. Serve over biscuits 

Tips

If you want it spicy, make sure to use spicy sausage.
